Privacy Policy

IndieCalc ("we," "us," or "our") operates the indie-calc.com website (the "Site"). This page describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
1. Information We Collect
Calculator inputs. When you use our calculators, you enter financial information such as income, filing status, and state of residence. This data is processed entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. We do not transmit, store, or have access to your calculator inputs.
Server logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) automatically logs basic request data such as page URL, HTTP status, browser type, and approximate region. These logs are managed by Cloudflare and used to operate the Site. We do not currently run any first-party analytics scripts on the Site.
Email. If you use our "Email Me This Report" feature, it builds a pre-filled message URL and either opens your mail client (mailto), Gmail (compose URL), or Outlook.com (compose URL). The pre-filled message contains the tax estimate values you generated. We do not capture or store your email address. Note: choosing the Gmail or Outlook option transmits your tax estimate to those services as part of the compose URL.
2. Cookies
IndieCalc does not set any first-party cookies. We do not run any third-party analytics or tracking scripts. If this changes, we will update this policy accordingly.
3. How We Use Information
We use server-log data only to:
- Operate and secure the Site (rate-limiting, abuse prevention)
- Identify and fix bugs or broken pages
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
4. Third-Party Services
The Site uses the following third-party services:
- Cloudflare Pages: Hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
- Google Fonts: Web fonts. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Gmail / Outlook.com (optional): Only if you click "Open in Gmail" or "Open in Outlook.com" from the email-report dropdown. Your tax estimate is included in the compose URL.
We may include affiliate links to third-party services. Clicking these links may result in those third parties collecting data subject to their own privacy policies.
5. Your Choices
Since we do not use cookies or collect personal data, there are no tracking preferences to manage. You can use the Site freely without any data being tied to your identity.
6. Data Retention
We do not store your calculator inputs. Server logs from Cloudflare are retained and aggregated by Cloudflare according to their standard retention policies.
7. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
